Madamas Overnight
This trek will give you an endurance test but at the end you will be immersed in one of Trinidad's most pristine, lush and untouched destinations.
Tour Details:
For this one your trek will start in the remote village of Blanchisseuse and quickly takes you under the Rainforest Canopy of our Northern Range. Your 18km/11mi approach to the camp site will indeed be in humid conditions and will put your metal to the test. When you get to your eventual destination however, you will reap the rewards of your perseverance.
ALONG THE WAY...
Along the way, you will cross a proliferation of exquisite remote, seculeded bays; what more could you ask for, when a well deserved rest is needed. You can replenish your drinking water along the way; our team will also have sterilization tablets if you wish to use these.
If you join us for this tour between March and August, you will get the added bonus of a highly probable encounter with nesting Hawksbill and Leatherback sea turtles.
As you approach the camp site, there is also the possibility of Collared peccary, Red brocket deer, Armadillo (Tattoo) and porcupine sightings.
Before campfire and dinner, your group can vote between 2 camp sites. One is by the Madamas river mouth and on the beach; the other is a tad further in, and on the river bank. The source of this river is from tributaries which originate from the northern foothills of El Cerro Del Aripo, Brasso Seco and El Chiquero.
Both campsites have their pros and cons; you guys can decide!
AT NIGHT
After you settle into camp, you have the option of a short ‘Night Safari’ along the trail and along the beach. This time your chances of spotting wildlife is increased. Again, if you join us here during the ‘Turtle Season’, then an up cplose encounter with a nesting seaturtle is almost guaranteed.
