Sombalala

Enter the enchanted world of Sombalala; see how you fare up against her twists and turns and 13 rappels! Do it in 1 day or as an overnight adventure, either way, you will experience world class topography!
Tour Details:
Sombalala is our most intense offering. It starts with a 45min jeep road drive all the way into the remoteness of Lalaja.
AN EARLY START
The logistics of this tour will require an early start. We strongly suggest an overnight in Lalaja to ensure setting off on time. We have arranged accomodation at 'Villa de Sombalala' for $100TTD. This accomodation is very rustic and has very basic amenities but will set the tone for the epic experience of Sombalala!
THE APPROACH
The 7km/4.3mi approach is a major chunk of the Cerro del Aripo ascent and will be a test in itself. After this you are faced with a 2km/1.2mi deep forest trek, before finding the source of one of the tributaries which eventually connects to the Guanapo River.
LET THE CANYONING BEGIN
From this point you will be challenged with 13 rappels, some of these will take you through an almost fully covered gorge where the sky is obscured and the Black Swifts rule!
At the end of the river traverse, you will have a 5km/3mi trek back to base. 12 hrs later you will have gathered memories to last a lifetime!
